Over the last few years we have had a growing need in the Wake Forest Community to have a therapist who specializing in providing therapy to children with autism, developmental delays, and sensory processing issues, and now we have found her! I am so excited to have Katie on board as an art therapist with Bowman Family Services, and to fill a gap in services needed in this community!  She is also passionate about helping children with a ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other social/emotional concerns, and their families.

Katie Dunlap, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Art Therapist. She has provided individual and group art therapy with children, adolescents and their families for over three years in various settings. Katie has worked with children on the autism spectrum, children with developmental delays and sensory processing issues, and children with social/emotional needs. Katie emphasizes the power of the human connection and incorporates art to serve as a bridge between the verbal and non-verbal realm in her therapy sessions. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University in Chicago. She loves spending time with her husband, daughter and 11 nieces and nephews. Along with her art making, she also enjoys reading, running, and yoga.

Katie is young, energetic, compassionate, and eager to help children and families in this community!
